New surgical navigation platform - first case in Australia performed at Epworth Freemasons

One of the first cases in Australia of breast surgery using the Sirius ‘Pintuition’ surgical navigation platform was performed at Epworth Freemasons by Dr Navin Rudolph.

This new technology facilitates targeted excision of impalpable breast lesions using a magnetic seed marker and a highly sensitive and accurate navigating probe.

It obviates the need for preoperative wire placement or hook wires into the breast and can be placed weeks or even months prior to surgery, conferring improved operating list efficiency and logistics.

Targeted surgery means less dissection and less pain for breast cancer patients and there is the added prospect of improved margin assessment and consequent reduced need for secondary excisions with this device.Pictured below Dr Rudolph with the surgical team at Epworth Freemasons.
